Equipment decision
Buy, rent or spread another way?
The best answer depends on project size, material compatibility, local prices and how often you expect to repeat the work—not on one product ranking.
Choose by situation
| Situation | Likely starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Small, one-time project | Manual spreading or rental | Ownership and storage may add little value. |
| Large one-time project | Rental or professional service | Capacity and time saved can matter more than ownership. |
| Repeated compatible projects | Compare purchase cost | Several rental events may approach the equipment price. |
| Wet, coarse or very dense material | Verify before deciding | Volume alone does not prove the machine can handle the material. |
What to compare
- Mesh and opening size: will the material pass without bridging?
- Rated load: sand and wet material can be heavy.
- Capacity: calculate loading cycles, not just hopper size.
- Rental conditions: delivery, deposit, cleaning, time allowance and availability.
- Ownership costs: storage, maintenance and resale value.
Use local numbers.
The calculator compares a purchase price with rental price per use over three years. It is a planning aid, not a guarantee of savings.
